Well, what's neat about the randomization -- and this isn't something I'd really thought about until now -- is that it forces you out of your comfort-zone, characterization-wise. In roleplay, I have certain "types" (most prominently: "prettiest princess of social primary" and the aforementioned "sweet, gentle, guilty" types of which Pherae is one) who are very much so easy-mode for me, and I often drift towards them instinctively (though they're of course not the only types I've played). Randomization can guarantee that you don't just stick with that easy-mode.
