k so mandya and renegade are earth nation, and they are sandbenders! they pretty much zoom around the desert on one of those nifty sand sailers, taking odd jobs like the mercenaries they are, getting into trouble, and being dicks to each other. renegade is a MUCH better sandbender than mandya and she tries to teach her little accident how to be a badass, but mandya just ain't having it.

so renegade is pretty much the hottest shit sandbender bitch ever. she said FUCK THIS TRIBE BULLSHIT at a young age, stole a sand glider, and set off on her own to be QUEEN OF THE DESERT. basically she was halfway between a mercenary and a vigilante for years, doing whatever it took to live life her way. she also had a bit of a wandering eye and got with her fair share of dudes. renegade don't care, renegade takes what she wants.

except that eventually she ended up pregnant, oops. she really has NO IDEA who her baby daddy is, but either way nine months later, she ended up with mandya. did that stop her from her renegading ways? NOPE. she decided FUCK SOCIETAL EXPECTATIONS, didn't settle down EVEN A LITTLE and raised her baby girl out in the desert while still being a badass bitch.

at first she tried to be a good, kind parent, but as mandya grew up, she became more and more of a little shit. that girl grew up to be all backtalk and snippy quips, so eventually renegade just figured FUCK IT and started snarking back at her. and so their relationship was founded on mutual antagonism that masks a very strong bond.

they're both sandbenders, but renegade does the majority of the bending to get their glider from point a to b, partially because mandya's not that good at it, but mostly because she's a lazy fuck. she largely uses her sandbending to do dickish things like dump a bunch of sand down their shirt. she COULD be a better bender if she applied herself, but what does she care, renegade is so much better than her anyway.

i imagine that they probably take jobs outside the desert every now and then, so maybe that brought them to the city at some point!! lol i just realized that when they leave the desert, they probably pull a gaara and carry around big things of sand so they can still bend properly.

but yeah, i'm sure at some point they ended up in the city and renegade started a bar fight or something and got into all sorts of shenanigans and they they all met each other?????

OKAY so if you want to get technical, both Maj and Kappy are earth nation and both are benders. However, Kappy's an airbender. Maj basically found the kid starving and miserable one day and brought him back home and they've been living together since. Despite them looking related, Maj isn't actually sure since he's never gotten laid and everything and Kappy just Doesn't Talk about what happened before he got picked up. It's a ~mystery~, or at least a really freaky coincidence.

Kappy's like super nervous and shy even here and is hiding his bending because he has Issues with fitting in that Maj kind of accidentally made worse, whoops. BULLY HIM ALL YOU WANT just don't actually hurt him or the crazy farmer will show up.

Maj is still an angry, insane farmer who deserted the army to grow flowers, yup. He is a very good earthbender, if somewhat aggressive for one, and he basically gives no fucks about what you think. Should not have become a parentthing and kind of. Fails very hard at it, he tries but well-meaning isn't enough to make up for bad parenting skills.

Ftr, Maj is still pretty androgynous here and Kappy looks kind of girly because of hairflowers, but you all probably know that the former punches people who mistake him for a lady already.

Alright let's do this. They're both fire benders, but they both live in the Earth Kingdom. The Baron is disgustingly rich, disgustingly eccentric, and disgustingly good at both his bending and the... chi blocking thing that Tai Lee does. The latter less so because it's something he's still learning, but still. He is, tbh, probably a fire bending master, and may have been involved with the Order of the White Lotus at one point before he got kicked out because he is still not a very nice guy, even after humanstucking. He, in fact, probably has a pretty sketchy military background, but most people don't question all those random explosions or all those civilian casualties because he got the job done and he got it done fast. And besides, he's retired and old now and living on some estate several thousand miles away from the Fire Nation so who even cares, right???

Anyway... Kalfour is his unfortunate, pyrophobic grandson whom he did not know about until he gained custody of him. See, it seems his estranged daughter and her husband were burned to death in a raid. Which was done by fellow fire benders. Which Kalfour was present for. Yeah, what can I say, the kid is doomed to have issues with his identity forever, this is law.

NEEDLESS TO SAY I'M SURE, the Baron is not a spectacularly good parent and really treats their relationship like a prolonged apprenticeship, though of course Kalfour refuses to admit he can make fire with his hands, so he's getting taught how to chi block instead. He is sort of constantly on edge because the Baron turned the house into a battleground... rather like Bro and Dave now that I think about it. Bro and Dave if Bro was an insane old Asian master and Dave was a traumatized kid with a hidden temper and issues reconciling the reckless, angry power he's got with the pacifist he is trying really hard to be.

One is a quiet, polite kid with no friends. The other invites strangers to dinner once or twice a week just to see if they'll show up.

Together they... well, they just try to live with each other, you know?

Okay, so, some elements of Chrysi's past will remain similar; the Hotel is the finest inn/bath house/restaurant in Ba Sing Se, and Grandmamma was still a famous actress. She was also secretly a kickass underground earthbending cagematch champion, similar to Toph, back in her younger days....nd probably a White Lotus. Then one day, baby Chrysi was dropped on her doorstep, and soon taken in to be adopted and groomed as an heiress. Because honestly, no man was brave enough to marry Grandmamma.

For all her wealth and status, Chrysi rarely gets any suitors either, mostly due to the strange form of waterbending Chrysi instinctively developed during her early childhood. In the words of Hama: bloodbending. Though she used it for bizarrely trivial things--mostly chores and gardening--it was found unsettling, but, deep in the Earth Nation capital, cut off from most proficient waterbenders, there were few who thought it outright freakish.

And then Chrysi, ten and full of good intentions, caught a thief.

When it was a man, twice her size and thrice her girth, not a vine, being twisted to the little girl's will, perspectives quickly changed. Chrysi was 'offered' a full apprenticeship under a 'special' military force, but withn her Grandmamma's support, happily turned it down and returned to her chores and hostess duties. Business at the Hotel only lagged slightly, before booming like never before as tales of a strange, pretty girl with hair like fire and a dark gift with water laboring contentedly spread.

Censurer was born at the North Pole amongst the Northern Water Tribe; however, as her primary occupation is still Sticking It To The Man, she decided to bugger off to the Earth Kingdom when she was old enough to do so on her own in protest of not being treated as an equal to the boys, even as a very skilled waterbender.

Of course, all was not well in Ba Sing Se, either, and Censurer's tendency to go FUCK THE POLIIIIIICE manifested itself once again once she realized how quietly oppressive the atmosphere was. She narrowly evaded a trip or two to Lake Laogai, and managed to find a few like-minded others who were quietly concerned about the Earth Kingdom. I could see her ending up getting asked to join the White Lotus at some point really since she is that sort, as well as a good bender and someone who would be Very Concerned about the state of the world and international relations.

At some point, she had a daughter. She has never told a soul who the father was, but one day there was Hirune, the spitting image of her mother. I like to think she grows up to teach Poli Sci and Astronomy at the University at either Ba Sing Se or Republic City. Despite the fact that she's a waterbender and a decently skilled martial artist, unlike her mother, she's not used it much for fighting; she's really more concerned with it as a tool rather than a weapon and more of a spiritual bender.

Eighis and Adhy are both live in the Earth Kingdom and they're both benders. Metalbenders. Adherent is a scholarly type. Cheerful, mildly eccentric, occasionally acts like a whirlwind on two legs, but generally seems harmless. Key word here being "seems". Pick a fight with him and you'll find a maniac with two swords, one who is also a damn good metalbender to boot. (Though he favors precision and control over sheer power.) And sometimes he criticizes various governments, just for kicks. He also used to travel a lot. Never stayed in one place for long, him. He doesn't do that anymore. More on that in a bit.

Eighis is Bharal's brother. [There probably isn't a very big age difference, but I'd still like to know which one is the older one and which one is the younger.] Eighis is also Adherent's nephew. Adhy probably hadn't even met his nephews until after the boys' parents died. [Details like "how?" and "when?" still need to be hammered out.] Adherent (and Sentinel, who [I'm guessing] is also an uncle, but on the other side of the family.) ended up taking Eighis and Bharal in. And that's why Adherent doesn't travel anymore.

Ria and Ira are as usual twins. This would have to be Korra-verse or even post-korra-verse because they're both descendants of airbenders. At least Ria's got bending potential to go around, and she trained for it too, for a time, but diligence is not one of her virtues. As in, meditation was mostly sleep, and exercises were cool so long as they were fun, but otherwise she really prefered doing her own thing.

Their aunt, who raised them both, never stuck around for long after depositing the twins at the air temple, and Ira was left there as well despite lacking and and all bending potential. Their aunt would visit every once in a while, bringing them presents and clothes and stories from faraway places. For them, that was plenty enough, they didn't begrudge her leaving.

Eventually, the both of them took off, Ria having barely if at all completed her training. They took to travelling, Ira selling herbal and otherwise medicine, and Ria adding to the income with any odd jobs, be it fixing roofs or mending clothes. So they keep on the move, living life on their own terms and generally being helpful. It just isn't in their blood to stay in one place very long.
